El Remate is the only town on the east side of Lake Petén Itza, because it is quickly and readily accessed by road, there is minimum lake traffic, ensuring a quiet and engrossing experience with the flora and fauna that Gringo Perdido and Biotopo Cerro Cahui Natural Reserve has to offer.
